Video games = Art?

It has come into question recently as what one's interpretation of art would be. Throughout past decades, video games would have never been an option to consider. Mysterious Man

This was just a little quirky short film created in my media arts class. It's a silent film about a young man who can't seem to fit in the world. Hopefully this film will make you laugh or maybe consider the the world around you in a different light.

Redhead Charlize

This one I had fun with. The original photo is an ordinary head shot of the actress Charlize Theron found on Google. I recreated it using Photoshop and my Wacom Bamboo tablet. Using the stippling technique I created the highlights, shadows, and mid tones using her shade of skin. I changed her eye color and hair because I thought that would be a more eye catching combination.
This artwork is a visual representation of an Italian villa A friend of mine spent a vacation in Italy and sent me pictures of the scenery. This Pastel rendition was made with a fusion of a few pictures. I once again used Prismacolor hard pastels. The falls colors provoked a harvest type of feeling. The two children in the foreground were a last minute addition.

Moonlight

This was a pastel rendition of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Bay Shore. It was a summer evening and the sky was perfectly clear for this expression using Prismacolor hard pastels. The blues of the sky was reflected within the ocean as the moon caused casual tides.

This album art was inspired by flashy neons made popular in the 1980's. The client's vision was to create different images for each of her songs. This one was one of my favorites. I proceeded to cut her out of her background in Photoshop and placed her in a plain black background. Black makes colors pop more efficiently than white. I then duplicated her, lowered the opacity, and used different fill colors on each layer. I placed these layers behind her creating a 3D shadowed affect. I then placed her name filtered with a bright wavelength design. The name of the song was placed on the top left corner with a nice funky font imported in Photoshop.
